Travelling can wreak havoc with one’s skin, so it’s important to follow these suggestions to keep your skin in tip-top shape.
1. Drink up! If you’re going to be travelling by air, you definitely need to drink plenty of water as the high altitude can dry out your skin. Tote a small atomizer or water spray so you can mist your face while in transit. Remember that for carry-on baggage, you can’t bring liquids that weigh more than 100 ml each and 1 liter in total, so keep your liquids to a minimum. Also, bring a reusable water bottle so you can rehydrate while you’re out sight-seeing or shopping — you not only get to take care of your skin, but you’re not harming Mother Earth in the process as well.
2. Moisturize every night. Just because you’re on vacation is no excuse to skip your normal beauty regimen. Your skin will need to adjust to the new climate if you’re travelling to a foreign destination, and one way to keep it healthy is to maintain and regulate your skin’s moisture. Make sure to scrub or cleanse your face first and apply toner before putting on moisturizer.
3. Tote an umbrella. It will help protect your skin from the sun’s harsh rays (and will also come in handy should there be a sudden downpour!). Bring shades to protect your peepers as well. The more you squint, the greater your chances of forming crow’s feet and fine lines on the eye area.
4. Use SPF! No matter where you go and what you’ll be doing, you will need SPF to protect your skin from sun damage. Get an SPF that’s at least 50 and make sure to reapply every two hours or less if you’ll be spending lots of time outdoors.
